Chateau Červená Lhota

zamek cervlhota

A Renaissance water palace, built on a rocky island in the middle of a pond. It was rebuilt from an original Gothic fortress in the 16th century and after partial reconstruction in the 17th century it acquired valuable interiors with rich stucco decorations and precious wall paintings. The interiors of the west wing are decorated with Rococo figures in cartouche frames and the rooms are equipped with furniture from the Renaissance up to the Biedermeier era. A certainly curious impact is made by the perhaps too unmerciful portrait of Margaret Maultasch, countess of Tirol, known from the book by Lion Feuchtwanger as the Ugly Duchess. The palace is surrounded by an English park and includes a palace Trinity Chapel built in the 16th century.
